I enjoy this blog and the topics that appear from time to time, however this is one issue I am dead set against. Marriage is spiritual, religious, and sacred. It was designed strictly for a man and a woman. I not out nor will I ever be but I don’t understand why gays continue to “push the envelope”. We’ve come so far and we’ll get more rights but why antagonize str8 ppl to mimic everything they do? Black gay men on the whole aren’t for gay marriage and for good reason.
Gay marriage just isn’t practical for us. What do we need it for? The majority of us can’t sustain relationships long enough for it to reach the marriage mark, so it makes no sense for the majority of black gay men to remotely get interested in thinking about marriages. I wouldn’t keep someone from having one , but I just don’t think its something black gay men will ever get on board with now or in the future. Maybe more so with white men, but amongst us, its not all that common.

XXXXX,

Do NOT group this black gay man in with you. I may not be in a relationship, but should the day come where I want to spend the rest of my life with a man who was sent to me by God. I will standing in front that lord promising the love, honor and cherish this gift that he has given to me.

Marriage originally had nothing to do with the church and everything to do with wealth. There was property and money to be gained when a man took someone's daughter to marry. Today is all about various civil rights that are afforded under marriage as well as the legitimacy to the world are a loving union between two people, not just a man and a woman.

For this Black gay man, I want to have a long lasting relationship and it is people who perpetuate the stereotype that black men can not maintain relationships is why it continues to plague us to this day. Marriage should be extended to all; Black, White, Latino, gay, straight, bisexual whatever. This black gay man and many other black gay men are in full support of marriage equality and look forward to making that commitment to their man one day.

For the song of the day I will post a video that I implore you to watch The Edge of Glory
