Raise Your Glass

On March 25th, 2011 I did my first drag performance as Okra along with Patti O Furniture and Mrs. Flexible. It was a great time and I made $6 in tips. At first my friend was really nervous but then we he got excited I was nervous. It was awesome and we looked great.

 The professional drag queen were awesomely helpful and gave us wigs and some makeup for help out act. They were really supportive and I got to see the inner workings of what goes on behind the scenes of a drag show. So much work; quick costume changes make up and much more.

I had considered doing drag for a while. I know I can do it now. But I need to save that for when I have more money as it is not cheap to look cheap. haha. It takes lots of money for makeup, wigs and wardrobe! Maybe in a few years I will take the stage in a bigger way but until then. My next performance should be at Rainbow Rave if they have more amateurs then!

Reba McEntire, is a very interesting woman. She has had a hit television show, multiple number one hits and albums and a clothing line. She has even been in a few TV movies.
Tremors is one the first time I saw Reba. She and the dad from "Family Ties" and Kevin Bacon are battling these big worm things that attack people in the desert and can track people by the vibrations that things make on the surface as they more. They have to kill them off after they start to pick off the towns people one by one. But don't mess with a country girl with a rifle.

I found out not too long ago that she loves her LGBT fans and they love her too! I'm not sure why I am drawn to Reba. I'm not a red head or from a country like area but I do enjoy her songs. They like many other country song tell stories about everyday people.


i wish I could see her in concert. I guess that will be added to the bucket list. I can not believe that she is in her mid 50's. She looks better than some actresses in their 30's. Sometimes you need a break from Ke$ha, Lady GaGa and yes, even Christina Aguilera. Reba is a change from the typically thumpa thumpa even if only in voice. She had done a great job covering "If I Were A Boy" There will be two songs today by Ms. McEntire.

This past weekend two of my besties visited from the other side of state. One is moving to the Sunshine State in June and the other is getting married in about a year. I get the feel that this will be the last time that this convergence of friends will happen like that again. unless you have something like in the movie "Grown Ups" but even that took the death of their grade school coach to do.

Your friends should seem almost bigger than yourself. They accept you for you, even when you may not. They are comprised of characteristics like and unlike yours that complement your own. No matter what they or you do they are there. Those are your true friends, they will support you with their all.

It is good to have at least of these people. Even better to have more that one.

The Broken state of Wisconsin

In Wisconsin, Democracy has been abandoned for tyranny and that start of the people no longer having power in their government. I have heard Gov Scott Walker say that he wanted to hear from the people on how they felt about this bill. I am guessing that the 70,000 people outside of his office and the thousands of others who were protesting their towns that made and did not make the newspapers were not really the people. These are Wisconsin citizens and they would like to stand for the rights of themselves, their parents, siblings, civil servants and educators. They value this work that these people have provided and would like to see that for the future generations.

 Even though, us temporary residents, do not tote a Wisconsin ID, we have been educated in your great institutions of higher learning. I have personally have been in Wisconsin for four years now and have been across the southern  portion of the state and may know it better than some Wisconsinites. I have been afforded great opportunities within the 65,500 sq miles of the beauty that is this state with the motto of "Forward".

It seems odd that a man without a college education (I have more education than a governor) has just bitch slapped about 300,000 with a few words and pen strokes. He has only been office for a three months and has caused so much damage. Good ole Dubya  took about at least 2 years to do it. I guess kudos to you Scott Walker for making Wisconsin FUBAR in such a short time.

I hope that maybe the people will rise up and fight back before all is lost. One of my friends has often been using this quote and I believe that is it fitting for the end of this blog today.

This is the song I am starting with. I reminds me of my first ex and just how truly f**ked up our relationship was. Keep in mind that we dated for 4 July 31-Dec4, 2006. By October this song was his ringtone. Just the part from from 2:22 through 2:25 of the song and this did not go off as a red flag.
